In the Spring of 2020 the world was learning to deal with a global pandemic—and Lucid was looking at how it could deepen its investment in helping companies deal with the increasing complexity, rate of change in their business, and manage the acceleration of hybrid and remote work trends. It was this investigation that led to this bold new product direction where teams come together to see and build the future.

To meet our new goals, we continued in creating a framework of products that help people and teams quickly come together and collaborate. Lucidchart, Lucidspark, and Lucidscale now make up a family of products within the Lucid visual collaboration suite that gives teams the power to go from imagining the future to building it.

So how did Lucid make this transformation happen? Read on to learn about this transition and see how these changes have influenced how you use Lucid’s family of products.

A new address for the family

Lucid’s family of products now executes in one place - Lucid.app. This new domain is where users log in to access each of the products. Users don’t need to remember unique domains, and if they start at lucidchart.com, lucidspark.com, or lucidscale.com and select “Login” they will be redirected to the new address.

There’s no place like “Home”

One of the first things that was needed to bring multiple products together was a new landing page. A place was needed to anchor the experience where users could access their files, start their work with a template, or even find some videos to help them learn to use a new product. Enter the Logged-in Home Page.

All logins take you directly to your home page where you can quickly start where you left off on a recent document, or easily start a new project from a template. Common tasks have been consolidated here to help you easily and quickly get your work done. You can see other products from the Lucid family on this page. So, if you have been a long-time Lucidchart user, it is easy to try another product like Lucidspark and start to see the value offered across the products in the suite.

Coming together - “Account Settings”

Until recently, the relationship you had with Lucid was on a per-product basis. It could be challenging for users to manage the settings individually for each of their products. To improve user experience, we’ve consolidated multiple pages and settings into a single consolidated view. That creates a literal one-stop experience for changing and updating settings. Whether you are managing your subscription or changing user or document settings, you can quickly see the specifics for each product and quickly make the desired changes.

Of particular note is the introduction of the “Overview” page where you can quickly see a summary across the suite of key areas including User Information, Notification Settings, Integrations, and the Current Plan for your product subscriptions. This page provides a map for you to quickly drill down into the particular settings you may want to change or update.

Common administration

When you are using a suite, it is important to bring all of the user and license management into one place. In addition, administrators can access common settings as they are applied and managed on a single Lucid account. So whether you are managing Lucidspark, Lucidchart, or Lucidscale, you are a click away from adding an additional product for your users and from managing the content and settings. The same patterns of configuration and security are easily applied to any or all products within the suite, making it quick and easy to extend the value of these other products across your team or enterprise.

Familiar yet unique

Lucid now offers a family of unique products that also include efficient shared characteristics. Within each product, you will see common suite-level features in the header such as account settings, sharing, and collaborators. The fonts and icons are consistent throughout the suite, which complement the “feel” of each product to make it easier to learn and use. But, just like you are unique from your siblings in your family, each product also has its own unique character and purpose. We help teams brainstorm in Lucidspark, build charts and diagrams in Lucidchart, and visualize their cloud infrastructure with Lucidscale.

More is yet to come

It has been just over a year since Lucidspark released and the visual collaboration suite began. While a lot of innovation and evolution has happened, there is more yet to come. Stay tuned and watch for more features and functions to be added that will help empower your teams to go from imagining the future to building it.
