You may be familiar with the Lucid Suite as a platform for brainstorming, aligning Agile teams, and creating process documents, architecture diagrams, and other complex visuals. What you may not know is that the Lucid Suite can be used for planning events, home improvements projects, vacations, and so much more.
Today, I’ll walk you through some of these unexpected Lucid Suite use cases.
Event planning
Over the past year, I’ve been busy planning my wedding. On the one hand, it’s been exciting to plan a celebration with my fiance. On the other hand, I weighed and measured the available offerings for wedding planning and was found wanting. Luckily for me, I have both a can-do attitude and Lucid license.
I created a team hub with my fiance to keep all our content—from guest list to honeymoon planning—in one place. Using the Google Sheets integration and Lucid’s conditional formatting functionality, I created a data-backed seating chart that updates in real time so I can quickly see and take action on changes without having to cross-check our RSVP form with a seating chart.

Home improvement projects
There’s never a shortage of maintenance or home improvement projects at our house. Our biggest project so far was building an office for the days we work from home.
Once again, I was unable to find a cost-effective app to help me create a timeline, run a budget burndown, map our layout, and get input from contractors and friends about our design plans.
I did all of those things in Lucid and sent it off to my fiance for review and feedback.
Vacation planning
I don’t know how I planned vacations before I had Lucid. It makes coordinating trips and keeping all the information organized a breeze.
Using Visual Activities, we can now prioritize activities that are important to everyone going on the trip and plan accordingly. This helps manage expectations and minimize disappointment.
We can also create a timeline with all our flight and lodging information attached so we have a centralized place for all our travel plans and itineraries.
And finally, we can add pictures from the trip to document our amazing adventures.
While I (hopefully!) expanded your ideas of Lucid use cases, there are several features and functions that I didn’t get to dive deep into. I love to use the layers functionality to show before/after layouts of rooms we are rearranging or redecorating; an engineering manager at Lucid put together an amazing monthly budget calculator so she could plan her “fun” spending each month; one of my team members uses Lucidspark voting functionality to decide how to cut and style her hair. There are myriad unique and useful features of Lucid that can help with an equally varied array of tasks and I hope this helps expand your Lucid horizons.
