What is an activity diagram maker?

Think of an activity diagram as a high-level flowchart for complex systems. While standard flowcharts track simple logic, activity diagrams map the entire lifecycle of a process—from software logic to business workflows. Use them to visualize how actions transition and interact, ensuring your system stays aligned.

How to create an activity diagram online

Define the process you want to model. Identify start and end points. Where does a trigger happen, and what is the last step of the finished process?

List out every individual task that happens between the start and endpoints. Use action verbs to keep it clear, like "Enter password" or "Grant access."

Use arrows to connect the sequence of a process and diamonds to represent decision nodes where the process splits. Clearly label the guards and conditions to guide the reader through each path.

If your process involves different teams, departments, or software systems, add swimlanes to keep workflows organized.

Identify tasks that can occur at the same time. Use forks to split one flow into two or more parallel tasks. Use joints to bring those parallel tasks together.
