How to create a UML profile diagram

Define the domain and scope

Identify the specific industry or platform requirements that standard UML doesn’t cover. Determine which elements of the UML metamodel need to be extended to better represent your system’s unique constraints.

Identify the metaclasses

Select the existing UML elements that you want to customize. These metaclasses serve as the foundation for your new, specialized extensions.

Create custom sterotypes

Define your new stereotypes using standard notation. These act as new “types” for your system, allowing you to give standard UML shapes more specific meaning within your profile.

Add tagged values and constraints

Assign additional properties to your stereotypes using tagged values. You can also add constraints in curly brackets to define specific rules that these elements must follow in your domain.

Map extension relationships
